About me
How I created a career in marketing
After completing my Master’s degree in Physics, I decided that I wanted to enter the world of work rather than continue studying. The thought of spending another three to four years in labs studying a PhD just wasn’t for me. Instead, I pursued a career in banking and finance, starting out as an analyst and eventually becoming an analytics consultant. I absolutely loved my various roles as I could apply all my analytical skills from my studies - work with numbers, explore data and solve problems. On top of this, I was able to learn about a new industry, develop commercial awareness and build strong client relationships. I truly enjoyed working in a fast-paced environment and making an impact.
During my consultancy role, I was lucky enough to explore different areas of the business which included marketing. I was responsible for redesigning the company website, creating social media content and planning corporate events as well creating the now established internship programme. With each task that delivered, I was ready for the next one. It was digital marketing that made me seal the deal with my new career direction - create engaging content on a corporate platform but also the opportunity to delve into the data behind the marketing machine.
And here I am today, still excited to go to work (or wfh during this pandemic) every day and equally driven to keep learning about the digital marketing industry.
I love capturing moments, whether it be quick snaps whilst I'm out and about, glamorous holiday pics, family portraits and of course, who doesn't love a good selfie! Although I only recently decided to take my hobby more seriously and get involved in wider projects, I feel that I’ve always had the eye for taking well framed and naturally beautiful photographs. This probably stemmed from my childhood where I went through a phase where I became slightly introverted (the Science nerd in me!) and disliked being in family photos so I would always volunteer to take them. During that time, I managed to pick up a few key skills and here I am now. I admire the creativity that it brings out in me, allowing me to concentrate on pretty little details and getting that perfect angle!
I absolutely love having my own special memories being captured and therefore I feel that I completely understand others' needs for a fabulous photo; capturing the feeling, the moment and that perfect memory for life.
